North American car and truck production in January rose 23 percent from January 2011 levels to 1,255,775 units. That was the most vehicles produced in a January since 1.3 million were built in 2006.
Car production jumped 62 percent in the United States and 11 percent in Canada but fell 5 percent in Mexico. North American car output rose 32 percent.
Truck output rose 17 percent in the United States, 13 percent in Canada and 20 percent in Mexico. North American truck production rose 16 percent.
Vehicle output increased 32 percent in the United States, 12 percent in Canada and 4 percent in Mexico.
