DETROIT -- TRW Automotive Holdings Corp. has introduced a dual-contour front-passenger airbag that can tailor itself to the size of the occupant.
After a sensor determines the passenger's size, the electronic control unit activates a tether that controls the bag's size and shape.
TRW says the new airbag will be ready for production in 2013.
TRW Automotive, of suburban Detroit, ranks No. 11 on the Automotive News list of the top 100 global suppliers with worldwide parts sales to automakers of $14.4 billion in its 2010 fiscal year.
