LOS ANGELES -- Louis Borick, founder of aluminum wheel manufacturer Superior Industries International Inc., died Nov. 28. He was 87.
Borick founded Superior in 1957 as a supplier of bug deflectors. The company made other products for the auto aftermarket, including wheels. In the early 1970s, Superior, of Van Nuys, Calif., signed a contract with Ford Motor Co. to supply wheels for the Mustang. That was Superior's first auto contract. The company now is a major supplier of aluminum wheels to the auto industry.
Borick was CEO of the company until January 2005 and chairman until May 2007. His son succeeded him. The elder Borick was a board member at the time of his death.
