DETROIT -- A marketing panel at the 2012 Automotive News World Congress will examine how companies can use social media to protect themselves from brand bashing.
The Brand Management session will be held Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 11. Speakers include:
-- Scott Keogh, chief marketing officer of Audi of America. Before joining Audi in 2006, Keogh worked at Mercedes-Benz USA for more that a decade.
-- Don Romano, chief marketing officer of Mazda North America Operations and president of Mazda Canada. Romano has been chief marketing officer since 2010 and head of Mazda Canada since 2006. He joined Mazda in 2000 after beginning his automotive career at Nissan Motor Corp.
-- Matt VanDyke, director of marketing communications for Ford Motor Co. VanDyke was one of the automaker's pioneers in using social media as nontraditional ad support for vehicle launches. Before joining Ford in 2008, he was with the ad agency Team One, where he managed advertising for Toyota's Lexus Division.
-- Rob Weisberg, chief marketing officer of Zipcar. Weisberg joined the car-sharing enterprise from Domino's Pizza, where he was vice president of multimedia marketing. Before that, he worked for Madison Avenue agencies.
The theme of the 2012 Automotive News World Congress is "Revived and Remodeled: The Path to Global Growth." The event will be held Jan. 10-12 at the Marriott hotel in the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit.
