DETROIT -- Behr America Inc. announced today that Wilm Uhlenbecker has been named president and CEO, effective immediately.
Uhlenbecker replaces Heinz Otto as president of the supplier of automotive air-conditioning and engine-cooling systems. Otto came to Behr America in 2009 to lead the company's turnaround efforts.
Before his new position, Uhlenbecker was vice president of operations for Behr America. He joined the company in 2007 as vice president, responsible for cost reduction.
Uhlenbecker also is a member of the Behr America executive committee. His prior experience includes management positions in operations, quality and strategy, including holding the general manager position in a German-Japanese joint venture in South Carolina.
Behr America is a unit of Germany-based supplier Behr GmbH, which ranks No. 37 on the Automotive News list of the top 100 global suppliers with estimated worldwide sales to automakers of $4.63 billion in 2010.
