Is Hyundai getting ready to flex its muscles against the V-8-powered Ford Mustang Boss 302 and Chevrolet Camaro SS?
At the Specialty Equipment Market Association show last week in Las Vegas, Hyundai stuffed the 450-hp V-8 from the high-performance R Spec version of its Genesis sedan under the hood of the Genesis Coupe.
The stock version of the Genesis Coupe has nothing bigger than a V-6, and the car Hyundai showed in Las Vegas was only a concept. But John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, noted that the coupe uses the same chassis as the larger sedan, which can accommodate the V-8.
Asked if Hyundai will add a V-8 coupe, Krafcik told USA Today: "It's certainly a possibility."
