Old Isuzu executives don't fade away. They do lunch.
What was once the executive team running American Isuzu, which sold its last vehicles to U.S. dealers in January 2009, gets together for lunch in Los Angeles every month.
The ROMEO group -- it stands for Retired Old Men Eating Out -- consists of Terry Maloney, Fritz Kern, Dave Barneich, Dick Gillmore, Bill Shaw, Greg Sedoff and Tom Conley.
Meanwhile, in Japan, a similar group of Isuzu Motors execs -- some of whom were in the executive ranks at American Isuzu -- also gets together for monthly lunches. They are called JULIET, which stands for Japan's Ultimate Leaders (at) Isuzu Eating Together. Among the attendees there are Kozo Sakaino, Ken Murakami, Allen Seki and Eddie Kawasaki.
Will Romeo meet Juliet? Plans are being made for an Isuzu reunion in Hawaii.
