Mercedes-Benz, which took over U.S. distribution of its Smart brand in July, is working with Renault on a replacement for the tiny ForTwo.
The new Smart two-seater and the successor to the Renault Twingo will share the same platform.
ForTwo: The two-seater will be replaced in 2014 with a vehicle co-developed with Renault.
ForTwo Electric: In 2012, the ForTwo Electric will get an improved interior and will switch to lithium ion batteries made by Deutsche Accumotive GmbH, a joint venture between Daimler and Evonik Industries.
ForFour: A four-seater based on the new ForTwo platform could go on sale in 2015.
The vehicle would have a rear-mounted engine and rear-wheel drive.
