The redesigned 2012 Nissan Versa sedan will be priced $1,000 more than the 2011 base model because of new standard features, Nissan North America Inc. said today.
The new Versa sedan will sticker for $11,750, including destination, making it the lowest-priced 2012 subcompact to date in the United States, according to the company.
The new Versa is set to go on sale in early August. Standard equipment includes air conditioning and an AM/FM/CD/Aux-in audio system.
The 2012 Versa's fuel economy is rated at 30 mpg city/38 highway, up from the 2011 sedan's 28 city/34 highway.
Other available features on higher-priced trim levels include a hands-free Bluetooth phone system, a navigation system with five-inch touch-screen display, XM Satellite Radio and an iPod-USB interface.
The Versa will also be offered in a five-door hatchback version, which will go on sale July 17.
In the United States, Versa sales during the first six months of 2011 declined 16 percent to 45,886 from the same period of 2010.
