To the Editor:
Regarding Keith Crain's June 13 column, "Don't forget who got you to the dance": It is hard to understand how a photo of executives at General Motors' annual meeting could be used to criticize them for somehow claiming undue credit for the company's recent success, especially since GM CEO Dan Akerson told shareowners there in no uncertain terms: "Let me assure you, no one is doing a victory lap."
Moreover, Akerson routinely recognizes in public and private that the company's product renaissance began well before he and the current management team arrived.
He also regularly applauds GM employees for remaining committed to producing world-class vehicles, such as the Chevrolet Volt, at a time when it would have been easy to give up.
