Pete Selleck will become chairman of Michelin North America by year end, the company said.
Selleck, 55, has been president of Michelin Truck Tires worldwide since January 2006. He will succeed Dick Wilkerson, who will retire.
Selleck will return to Greenville, S.C., from Michelin's global headquarters in Clermont-Ferrand, France.
Selleck has been with Michelin for 29 years. Before becoming president of Michelin's global truck tire business, he led the company's passenger and light truck replacement tire division for Europe. His last assignment in North America was as the COO of Michelin Americas Small Tires from 1996 to 2003.
Wilkerson, 64, has been chairman of Michelin North America since August 2008. During his tenure, the company became the top-selling tire maker in North America. Wilkerson, a 31-year Michelin employee, will be named North American chairman emeritus upon his retirement.
