LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Gerry Durnell, editor and publisher of Automobile Quarterly since 2000, died May 23. He was 69.
HOUSTON -- Jack Helfman, longtime auto dealer and owner of three Houston stores, died May 28. He was 78.
He began his career working at his father's used-car lot in Houston. In the 1970s, the Helfmans acquired River Oaks Chrysler-Plymouth, now River Oaks Chrysler-Jeep-Dodge. In 1981, Helfman opened Helfman Ford; and in 2002, Helfman Dodge, now Helfman Dodge-Chrysler-Jeep.
Helfman Fiat is scheduled to open this year.
