DETROIT -- Toyota Motor Corp. today named Shigeki Terashi president and COO of its North American engineering and manufacturing division, effective immediately.
Terashi, 57, remains president of the Toyota Technical Center in Ann Arbor, Mich.
He had been executive vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc. and president of the tech center. He replaces Tetsuo Agata, 58, at TEMA. Agata will return to Japan for a new assignment.
Terashi joined Toyota in 1980 in the body engineering design division. In 1994, he managed platform development on the Camry, and in 1999, he was chief engineer on the Solara.
In 2003, Terashi became the first executive engineer based at the Ann Arbor center, where he directed development for the Solara, Avalon and Sienna.
In another appointment today, Toyota named Kazuhiro Miyauchi executive vice president of purchasing, production control and logistics control for TEMA, effective immediately.
Miyauchi, 54, had been managing officer for Toyota's purchasing project management and unit parts division.
