SHANGHAI -- Subaru hopes its new XV Concept will test the appetite for a new segment of small crossover that would sit below the Outback and Forester.
The car, which debuted in bright Kelly green at the Shanghai motor show, is about the size of the Impreza, the smallest offering in Subaru's lineup.
The XV features Subaru's all-wheel drive and the company's latest boxer engine.
Subaru is pitching the vehicle at China, where it wants to parlay the success of the Forester SUV and Outback into a new niche. But Subaru also plans to introduce the compact crossover in other markets, including the United States.
