To the Editor:
A table on the March 28 front page mentioned the 2011 Ford Fiesta SE sedan. Is the car a two-door sedan or a four-door sedan? Seriously, though, the word "sedan" is often used incorrectly.
Perhaps your staff members are too young to know that the term "sedan" designates not the number of doors but the presence of a full-length rocker-to-roof B pillar. Thus to use "sedan" to designate only a four-door vehicle is incorrect.
With Automotive News' capacity to educate, shouldn't you be insisting that your staff use the word "sedan" correctly? Call a four door a four-door. Merely calling it a sedan is pointless.
