DETROIT -- Terry Iwasaki, vice president and CFO of Metaldyne LLC, died Dec. 26 after battling cancer. She was 50.
In her role with the suburban Detroit auto supplier, Iwasaki oversaw the restructuring of Metaldyne Corp. into Metaldyne LLC.
She joined the company in 1994 when it was known as MascoTech Inc. as a plant controller. She worked in a number of financial and treasury positions, including business group controller and vice president of finance for commercial operations. Ultimately, she became CFO, a position she held for the last three years.
Iwasaki's first job in the automotive industry came in 1989 with Ishikawa Gasket America Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of the Japanese supplier.
"I am very glad to have known Terry and to have relied on her guidance and leadership over the years," Metaldyne CEO Thomas Amato said in a statement. "She was an amazing individual that taught us much about commitment yet also about keeping things in perspective."
Last year Automotive News named Iwasaki one of the 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry.
