Both the three- and five-door versions of Range Rover's compact Evoque SUV will come to the United States next October.
Phil Popham, managing director of Land Rover, predicted that the three-door -- typically a body style that doesn't do well in the United States -- will be “very well-received,” based on Land Rover research.
“We will attract younger and female buyers,” Popham said. “Research is telling us there is a market. The emotional appeal and the whole design of the three-door is quite stunning.”
Gary Temple, president of Jaguar Land Rover North America, estimates that between 15 and 20 percent of Evoque sales will be the three-door.
The Evoque models will start at about $45,000. Dealers saw both vehicles for the first time in Los Angeles at a dealer meeting before the show.
