DETROIT -- Ford Motor Co., taking another step to elevate its Lincoln brand, confirmed today that it will offer complimentary maintenance on all 2011 Lincoln models leased or purchased.
The Lincoln Complimentary Maintenance Program covers oil and filter changes, tire rotations and multipoint inspections for up to eight service visits, Ford said.
It is good for up to four years or 50,000 miles and can be transferred to subsequent owners. The program was launched last summer on select 2010 Lincoln models that were leased or purchased.
“We are redefining the Lincoln customer ownership experience,” C.J. O'Donnell, Lincoln group marketing manager, said in a statement.
Ford is overhauling the brand to better compete with Lexus, Cadillac and other luxury brands.
Lincoln's U.S. sales are up 6 percent this year to 70,120, but the brand trails Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Cadillac by a wide margin.
The Lincoln lineup will receive seven all-new or significantly refreshed vehicles in the next four years. For the first time, the new products will include a compact Lincoln.
