DETROIT -- With an initial public offering likely still a year away for Chrysler Group, the company's long-term success depends on the viability of its brands and consumer acceptance of its products. Ralph Gilles is at the center of the action.
Gilles, who is CEO of Chrysler's iconic Dodge brand, as well as senior vice president of product design for the whole company, will be a keynote speaker at the 2011 Automotive News World Congress.
The 40-year-old Gilles will speak Wednesday evening, Jan. 12.
The Chrysler 300 is considered his breakthrough design. He also oversaw design of the Dodge Charger, Dodge Challenger and Ram pickup.
After graduating from the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, Gilles joined Chrysler Corp. as a designer in 1992. He was given full profit and loss responsibility for the Dodge brand last year.
The Automotive News World Congress will be Jan. 11-13, 2011, during media week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
