DETROIT -- The revamped 2011 Chrysler 300 has been snapped for the first time without camouflage -- completely undisguised.
These photos were taken Wednesday afternoon when the car was being used for a photo shoot.
While the silhouette is similar to today's six-year-old 300 sedan, the car's exterior is all-new -- every piece of sheet metal has been replaced.
The 300 in these spy photos appears longer than the 2010 model. However, the dimensions are essentially unchanged. The 2011 300 and Dodge Charger share the automaker's re-engineered, LX rear-drive platform.
Chrysler officials were not immediately available to comment today on the photos.
The 300's design is intended to capture the presence and dignity of more upscale and expensive sedans. The interior has been redesigned to have the look and feel of some luxury sedans. The 2005-07 300 sedans were criticized for the use of cheap-looking materials.
The front-end styling incorporates Chrysler's new corporate grille and logo, flanked by projector-beam headlights and LED lighting strips.
By comparison, the sporty 2011 Charger draws on styling cues seen on the late 1960s Chargers and comes across as having a menacing attitude.
The 300's pricing has not been announced. However, the car is expected to move a little up market, further separating the brand and the 300 sedan from Dodge and the Charger.
