COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Auto dealer Wilson Dennis died on Sept. 21. He was 91.
Dennis began his automotive career in 1948 as a management trainee for Studebaker. He was later hired by Ford Motor Co. and held regional field positions with Lincoln Mercury until he opened Will Dennis Volkswagen in Toledo, Ohio, in 1964. He later added Porsche, Audi, BMW, Subaru and Chevrolet.
In 1985, Dennis sold the Toledo dealerships and moved to Columbus, where he had stores that sold several brands, including Pontiac, Jeep and Subaru. He never officially retired.
Dennis’ sons, Keith and Kurt, now run Hyundai, Kia and Suzuki dealerships in Columbus.
