DETROIT -- Severstal North America says it will extend the shutdown of its steel mills in Wheeling, W. Va. and Sparrows Point, Md. through the end of 2010.
Severstal extends shutdown of two U.S. steel mills
The two plants will not produce steel until market conditions improve, the company said. But both facilities will maintain finishing operations on reduced schedules.
The Russian-owned Severstal North America is the fourth-largest steel producer in the United States, with operations in Michigan, Maryland, Ohio, West Virginia and Mississippi.
