PENDLETON, Ind. -- Remy Electric Motors formed an agreement with MotoCzysz to market an electric motor called "D1g1tal Dr1ve." The compact motor is derived from powertrains for electric-powered motorcycles.
The partners will integrate Remy's HVH electric motor with a MotoCzysz cooling system to create an efficient powertrain for electric cars.
The partners have packaged the system as a "super axle" located between the two drive wheels. The liquid-cooled permanent magnet motor generates 250 pounds-feet of torque and 135 hp. The D1g1tal Dr1ve will be available next spring.
Remy International, of Pendleton, produces starters and alternators. MotoCzysz, of Portland, Ore., makes electric motors for racing motorcycles.
