He had been general manager of hydraulics operations for greater China for the company's hydraulics group.
Liu succeeds Dave Bennett, who will return to the United States in another Eaton position.
Nanda Kumar to president of Europe, Middle East and Africa for the vehicle group, based in Turin, Italy.
Since 1990 he has held several positions at Eaton, including vice president and general manager for the specialty controls and valve actuation businesses.
Kumar succeeds Joao Faria, who was appointed regional president of the Americas for Eaton's hydraulics group.
The Liu and Kumar appointments are effective July 1.

GOODYEAR TIRE & RUBBER CO. -- Damon Audia, 39, to senior vice president, finance, for the Asia-Pacific region, based in Shanghai.
He had been senior vice president of finance and treasurer. He replaces Jenny Wang, who has taken a new position in the Asia-Pacific operations.
Scott Honnold, 45, to vice president and treasurer, replacing Audia.
Honnold had been assistant treasurer, capital markets and risk management.
Goodyear, of Akron, Ohio, supplies tires to the automotive industry.
