DETROIT -- Visteon Corp., the former Ford Motor Co. parts unit that has been reorganizing in bankruptcy court since May 2009, said today it has expanded the product line and capacity of one of its climate control joint ventures in China.
FAWER Visteon Climate Control Systems, a joint venture between Visteon and China-based FAWER Automotive Component Co., expanded into a roughly 247,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Changchun, China.
The joint venture will manufacture radiators and heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems for export and for the rapidly expanding Chinese market. The plant will supply Chinese automakers such as FAW-Volkswagen, First Car Company, Shanghai Volkswagen, Changan Ford, Chery, Geely, and Great Wall.
Visteon, based in suburban Detroit, ranks No. 21 on the Automotive News list of the top 100 global suppliers with worldwide sales to automakers of $6.42 billion in 2009.
