A four-year effort by former Delphi Corp. CEO J.T. Battenberg III to clear his name after federal charges of civil fraud appears headed for a jury trial in Detroit starting Oct. 4.
Battenberg and four other former Delphi executives are accused of a pattern of "fraudulent conduct" from 2000 to 2004 to make Delphi earnings and cash flow look better than they were. Delphi, a giant parts supplier spun out of General Motors in 1999, ended up in Chapter 11 reorganization in October 2005. It emerged four years later.
