LOS ANGELES -- Rodney Slater, Toyota Motor Corp.'s head of outside quality advisers said the panel will have autonomy to examine U.S. operations and won't be "window dressing." The six-member panel formed in March and led by Slater, a former U.S. transportation secretary, includes Norman Augustine, a former CEO of Lockheed Martin Corp.; Patricia Goldman, a former National Transportation Safety Board vice chairman; and Mary Good, dean of engineering and information technology at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
