North American vehicle production will surge 64 percent in the second quarter from the bleak second quarter of 2009, to 2,921,100 cars and trucks, CSM Worldwide, of suburban Detroit, says in a new forecast. Other second-quarter predictions:
-- Chrysler Group's output will soar to 345,600 vehicles, nearly four times output in the second quarter of 2009, when the automaker halted most of its factories during its bankruptcy.
-- Output at General Motors Co., which also declared bankruptcy during the second quarter of 2009, will jump 82 percent to 716,100.
-- Ford Motor Co., Toyota Motor Corp., Honda Motor Co. and Nissan Motor Co. each will boost North American output by 36 to 50 percent.
