Three suppliers have earned top honors from Toyota Motor Engineering and Manufacturing North America Inc. during the company’s annual supplier business meeting, the company said this week.
Denso International America Inc., Johnson Controls Inc. and Mahle Inc. were given the awards, which recognize suppliers who exceeded Toyota’s expectations over several years.
Denso and Mahle each received the superior award in the quality category. Johnson Controls earned a superior for supplier diversity.
Denso, which is 24 percent-owned by Toyota Motor Corp., finished with the total performance award in the team category.
Johnson Controls ranks No. 3 on the Automotive News list of the top 150 North American suppliers, with $7 billion in sales to automakers in 2008.
Denso ranks No. 10 on that list, with $3.3 billion in sales in 2008.
Mahle ranks No. 40 with nearly $1.18 billion in sales to automakers in 2008.
