Considering all the trouble Toyota had in February -- accusations of unintended acceleration, predictions of falling resale values and the suspension of sales of recalled vehicles -- had the brand's certified used vehicle sales suffered, I wouldn't have been surprised.
And Toyota division certified sales were down 7.2 percent when compared to February 2009 sales, according Autodata Corp. But falling certified sales was the industry norm last month. Lots of brands were down.
And Toyota still clobbered the competition.
The automaker sold 18,382 certified used vehicles last month. And that easily surpassed second place Honda division, which sold 13,818 certified units last month, and third place Chevrolet, with 13,593 units.
Surprisingly enough, I was surprised.
