General Manager Tom Waurishuk is upbeat, even though it's a snowy weekday and business is slow at Saturn of White Plains.
Waurishuk expects within days to get final approval for a new-car franchise for the Buick and GMC brands and get right back into the new-car business.
"This dealership's going to be rocking and rolling!" he boasts. He says Saturn of White Plains already is selling more used cars than some rival Buick and GMC dealers.
"And that's with basically zero advertising for a month," Waurishuk says. "Think how we'll be doing once we start getting new inventory and we start advertising again."
Also, Waurishuk is still excited after doing a telephone interview with Fox Business News that morning about Toyota's damaging recalls for unintended acceleration.
In between conversations, he works the phone, talking about the recall and its probable effect on sales of new and used Toyotas. Talking on his cell phone, Waurishuk paces up and down the showroom, occasionally stepping outside into the cold and snow.
He phones his Buick-GMC regional representative and says, "Just give me the cars, and I'll start selling 'em!"
