Mark Reuss will be a keynote speaker next week at the Automotive News World Congress.
Reuss, who last month was appointed head of General Motors Co. operations in North America, will speak after dinner Tuesday evening, Jan. 12, in Detroit.
In his new job, the 46-year-old engineer is responsible for rebuilding GM's North American operations. He is expected to follow lessons learned during his 18 months as CEO of GM Holden Ltd. in Australia, including the need to:
• Integrate local operations into the global business.
• Focus on fuel-efficient technology.
• Seek creative solutions to labor and production problems.
• Be a strong champion for your region and brands.
Reuss, a 25-year veteran with GM, held a variety of engineering posts in North America before being assigned to the top job in Australia in February 2008.
