AUSTIN, Texas -- Roy Butler, a former auto dealer and former mayor of Austin, died Nov. 13. He was 83.
He owned Roy Butler Lincoln-Mercury in Austin from 1960 to 1976. Butler also owned dealerships that sold Ford, Mercury, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, Plymouth, Buick, Pontiac and Rolls-Royce vehicles in other Texas cities. He sold the last of his dealerships in 1989.
In 1972, Butler won the national Time Magazine Quality Dealer Award.
