General Motors Co. has chosen Canadian technology firm SCI Ltd. to funnel Internet sales leads to all GM franchise dealers.
SCI, of Markham, Ontario, said today that under a new arrangement with the automaker, all GM dealers will get Internet sales leads through SCI. Previously, GM contracted with several companies to direct Internet leads to its dealers, SCI said.
Individual dealers can choose to work with either SCI or other vendors to manage those leads.
GM spokesman John McDonald confirmed that SCI had been chosen “to handle a consolidation move of internal software systems for us that will make processing customer leads much faster -- and improve dealer responsiveness to those inquiries.” He declined to comment further.
SCI CEO Chris Cawston said half of GM’s dealers are already using SCI’s lead- management system in their stores. SCI’s software is accessed online, rather than through a server installed in the dealership.
Cawston said the company has expanded its service offerings. In addition to funnelling leads to retailers, it can help dealers execute marketing programs designed to generate leads and create brand awareness. It also can help dealers track and analyze the results of such programs to see how well they are working.
