LOS ANGELES — Lexus has priced its new HS 250h hybrid at $35,075 for the base model. The premium trim level sells for $37,845. Both prices include shipping.
The HS, Lexus' first dedicated hybrid, is powered by the brand's first four-cylinder engine. The 2.4-liter engine is rated at 147 hp, but when combined with the hybrid drive motor has a total output of 187 hp. The car is rated at 35 mpg in the city and 34 mpg on the highway, the best of any Lexus vehicle. The hybrid system is the same one used in the Toyota Prius.
The car goes on sale in late August. Lexus hopes to sell at least 25,000 units annually.
