Jaguar and Land Rover have chosen GXS Managed Services to set up a portal for exchanging electronic data with their suppliers.
GXS is a spinoff of General Electric Co. The Gaithersburg, Md., company operates business-to-business networks serving about 30,000 customers in a variety of industries.
GXS says it will provide a suite of electronic data interchange-based services for Jaguar and Land Rover.
Such systems allow messages, and documents such as purchase orders and shipment notices, to flow from an automakers enterprise resource planning software to that of its suppliers.
The two automakers had been handling such exchanges through their former parent company, Ford Motor Co. Ford sold the luxury brands to Indias Tata Motors Ltd. last year.
