DETROIT -- If General Motors can't secure a buyer for Hummer or Saturn by midsummer, it will begin halting production in August.
"We'd stop building in the back half of this year -- August through December," Mark LaNeve, GM's vice president of vehicle sales, service and marketing, said Friday during a sales conference call. "It'll depend on the model and the level of inventory."
LaNeve said there are several parties interested in both brands.
LaNeve said: "Hummer and Saab inventory is very, very low, and Saturn is manageable but coming down fast."
At the end of April, he said, GM had about 44,520 Saturn, Hummer and Saab vehicles in inventory.
