Two executives who are helping transform the U.S. auto industry will speak at the Automotive News Manufacturing Conference in June.
Don Jackson, president of Volkswagen AG's planned factory in Chattanooga, Tenn., and Steve St. Angelo, senior vice president of Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America Inc., will speak June 9 in Birmingham, Ala. The conference theme is "The Art of the Flexible: Production Strategies in Turbulent Times." Jackson and St. Angelo are helping create new strategies at their companies.
VW is building a $1 billion factory in Chattanooga that will produce a new mid-sized sedan beginning in 2011. Before moving to VW last fall, Jackson, 53, headed manufacturing and quality at Toyota's San Antonio plant.
