Dear Mr. President
Ever wonder what average Americans think about the auto industry?
Wonder no more. Here are a few of the 3,170 letters about the auto industry sent to President Obama on the White House Web site:
GM currently owns patents related to the production of the NiMH battery, which could be used to make electric cars. GM isnt using it but wont allow anyone else to. Will you consider using eminent domain to put this technology in the public domain?
Everyone has heard of inventors claiming that they were able to get over 100 miles per gallon and to run cars simply on water. Have the automobile and petroleum industries conspired to keep these inventions from ever reaching the public?
In the early 80s I read in a local newspaper that a young man had invented a system that had a big 8 cylinder American auto travel 400 miles on one gallon of gasoline, GM paid him off and he died, they bought patent and locked it away, How is that?
If a high school dropout can modify a Hummer to run on vegetable oil and get 60 mpg, how come the tax system sets up barriers against this technology?
To promote oil independence, healthier people, and jobs would you support a refundable tax credit for the purchase of new bicycles and helmets? What about incentives for businesses to install facilities to change after a bike commute?
Has your Administration given any thought to utilizing the Cannabis plant to create stronger, lighter and more fuel efficient automobiles? As well creating a safer, cheaper, renewable fuel?"
The truth is out there.
