For 2009, Hyundai dealers will be working with their fifth CEO in six years — a recipe for confusion. But the new Hyundai Motor America CEO, John Krafcik, could bring peace of mind.
Krafcik, who had been the company's product chief until his appointment in November, not only is a champion for new product. He also spent time working with dealers on incentive programs.
Hyundai dealers also have many new and redesigned products coming during the next two years. Most will be equipped with fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines and other technologies, such as gasoline direct injection, to help improve fuel economy.
But all is not rosy. Like many other dealers, Hyundai's are having a tough time securing credit. That will be the top challenge this year.
Staff Reporter Kathy Jackson talked with Scott Fink, Hyundai's dealer council chairman.
