Pittsburgh Glass Works, LLC will close its Evart, Mich. plant at the end of March, the automotive glass supplier said late last week.
Joseph Stas, the companys COO, in a statement cited the continuing decline in demand for auto glass brought about by the slump in the U.S auto industry for the closing.
The plant was purchased from Chrysler Corp. in 1998 by PPG Industries, Inc. Pittsburgh Glass Works, LLC purchased the auto glass business from PPG in September 2008.
Parts currently produced at the Evart facility will be transferred to other factories in North America.
In December, PGW said it would close its Oshawa, Ontario glass fabrication plant and its Cambridge, Ontario and Newark, Del. satellite assembly facilities.
