General Motors, Saturn and Saturn dealers have been studying proposals since mid-December that will affect the future of the brand. Saturn expects to have a concrete plan ready for dealers by late February or early March.
Tom Zimbrick, dealer principal at Saturn of Madison in Madison, Wis., and a member of the Saturn Franchise Operations Team, says GM and Saturn are including the dealers in the review process.
"The work behind the scenes since December has been done by a Saturn-led team with GM people on it, but they will continue to work with the [operations team] because it is a joint decision," Zimbrick says.
The team, which consists of eight dealers, met with GM and Saturn officials in Detroit Dec. 11-12. It was after the congressional hearings in which GM had submitted a plan saying it would explore alternatives for the underperforming Saturn brand.
Zimbrick spoke with Staff Reporter Ralph Kisiel.
