Hyundai says it is getting good dealer and consumer feedback from the program that allows customers who buy a Hyundai vehicle to return it without penalty if they lose their jobs within a year. John Krafcik, CEO of Hyundai Motor America, said sales and interest in the brand have grown because of heavy advertising of the program, which began Jan. 2.
"The dealers' mood is really good," Krafcik said during an interview at the Detroit auto show. Because of the new program, Krafcik says, Hyundai's U.S. sales in early January are up 20 percent over the year-ago period. He declined to say how much the program costs.
