Canada's light-vehicle sales dropped 10.3 percent in November compared with November 2007, to 105,255 units. Falling sales of cars and trucks from General Motors, Chrysler LLC and Honda Motor Co. dragged down the total.
For the first 11 months of 2008, sales were up 0.6 percent to 1,543,651.
In November, GM's sales slumped 23.4 percent to 21,348. Chrysler's sales fell 15.5 percent to 15,560.
Ford Motor Co.'s sales were up 0.1 percent to 16,582. Ford sold Jaguar and Land Rover to Tata Motors at mid-year. Excluding Jaguar and Land Rover sales from the year-earlier tally, Ford's sales in November rose 1.3 percent.
Honda's sales plunged 32.6 percent to 9,224. That allowed Toyota Motor Corp. to move up to No. 4 among automakers in Canada in November. Toyota's sales rose 1.9 percent to 12,792.
Hyundai-Kia Automotive Group's sales fell 0.1 percent to 8,266.
