DETROIT -- General Motors will repeat, for two weeks, a program that lets employees pass on an employee discount to one friend or family member.
Mark LaNeve, GMs North America vice president of sales, service and marketing, said the first program, which ran from July 25 through Thursday, July 31, moved 4,000 to 5,000 vehicles.
We got a little bounce. It was not really a widespread discount. It was great from an employee enthusiasm standpoint, LaNeve said today. It was so good we are going to do it again for the first couple of weeks of August. We think it is great to turn our employees into ambassadors.
LaNeve said GM employees who had passed along an employee discount can do so one more time.An employee discount offers a substantial savings. For example, a Buick Lucerne with a sticker price of $34,200 would carry an employee price of $29,758 after cash incentives, GM has said.
