Tom Kowaleski, former head of General Motors communications, became vice president of corporate communications for BMW of North America LLC effective May 1. He replaces Robert Mitchell, who retired April 30.
Kowaleski will manage the corporate communications department. He resigned the top PR post at GM in early 2006 and has more than 30 years of experience at GM, Chrysler Corp. and AMC-Renault.
Tom Salkowsky has been appointed manager of BMW corporate communications, with responsibility for the BMW automotive brand. He previously was manager of experiential marketing.
