Vast.com, a search engine for online classified advertising, will provide used-vehicle listings for the AOL Autos Web site starting early next year.
Kevin Laws, Vast.com CEO, says the agreement between the companies will offer AOL users listings of more than 3.5 million used cars and trucks.
Vast.com says it gets its listings from dealers, individual sellers and third-party lead generators such as CarsDirect.com and Autobytel Inc. Under the agreement, dealers will be able to post listings on the AOL site for free.
A separate model will allow dealers who use service providers to distribute used-vehicle inventory data and photos on the Internet to have that information forwarded to Vast.com for listing on AOL Autos.
"All of those things are supported within the system," Laws says. "The dealer, through their marketing partner, decides what model they want to use."
Doug Eddy, AOL Autos' director of business development, says AOL Autos now gets used-vehicle listings from AutoTrader.com
