Car and light-truck sales in Canada totaled 117,311 in November, down 5.0 percent from last year. Sales through November were up 3.0 percent to 1,533,829 vehicles.
General Motors sold 27,865 light vehicles in November, more than any other automaker. But GM's sales slipped 10.2 percent from November 2006. GM's year-to-date sales totaled 375,009 vehicles, a 1.9 percent decline.
Chrysler LLC came in second for the month, with sales rising 7.1 percent to 18,419 vehicles. A 19.1 percent sales increase for Chrysler Division and a 41.1 percent bump in Jeep sales offset the 5.6 percent slide of Dodge. Through the first 11 months, Chrysler LLC sales totaled 213,703 vehicles, up 5.8 percent from last year.
Ford Motor Co. sales slid 9.3 percent in November to 16,567 vehicles, fueled by a 29.1 percent nosedive in car sales. For the first 11 months, Ford Motor sold 220,521 vehicles, down 1.7 percent from last year.
