Business opportunities in the burgeoning markets of Russia, India and China will take center stage at the 2008 Automotive News World Congress on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 23.
Four panelists will discuss strategies for partnering and for creating successful business relationships in these countries. They are:
-- Chris Lacey, General Motors' point man for eastern and central Europe.
-- Pawan Goenka, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.'s automotive operations leader.
-- Jim Hudak, head of Metaldyne Corp.'s Asia-Pacific operations.
-- Sanjay Rishi, IBM Global Business Services' automotive leader.
Lacey is executive director of GM operations in central and eastern Europe. He has been seeking a site for a new manufacturing plant to beef up production in eastern Europe and Russia.
Goenka joined Mahindra in 1993 after 14 years with GM. Before being named president of Mahindra & Mahindra's auto sector in 2005, Goenka supervised the launch of several vehicles. He currently is heading efforts to prepare a line of trucks and SUVs for the United States.
Hudak is leading Metaldyne's planned technical center in Japan to boost business with Asian automakers. As leader of the Asia-Pacific region, he represents Metaldyne in dealings with customers, suppliers, media, government and professional agencies in Japan, China, Korea, India and elsewhere in the region.
Rishi manages IBM's global automotive and heavy-equipment clients. Using IBM software, he recently boiled down more than 1,500 comments from the Automotive Supplier Jam in March into three key priorities for auto suppliers in today's market.
