LOS ANGELES -- New Volkswagen cars and trucks will hold more of their value after five years than any other new-vehicle brand in the 2008 model year, a new Kelley Blue Book analysis predicts.
VW-brand vehicles will hold an average of 48.1 percent of their original sticker prices after five years, Kelley says, followed by BMW at 45.6 percent and Acura at 45.4 percent.
Kelley predicts Suzuki vehicles will retain just 27.6 percent of their value, the lowest percentage of any brand. Next to the bottom are Kia at 30.4 percent and GMC, Mercury, Dodge and Chrysler, all at 32.5 percent.
Kelley, of suburban Los Angeles, bases its analysis on vehicle data, market conditions, segment competition and economic expectations. The company publishes a used-vehicle price guide.
